The Lunar Nodes
The Celestial Gatekeepers The Lunar Nodes, also known as Rahu and Ketu, are significant planetary points that play a prominent role in astrology. Astronomically speaking, these nodes are the two points where the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic plane – the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth. Rahu is the North Node, also referred to as the Dragon’s Head, and Ketu is the South Node, known as the Dragon’s Tail. Although they are not physical celestial bodies that can be observed, these points are referred to as shadow planets, or “chhaya grahas,” in Vedic astrology.
